Topaz facts
 
Topaz is a fluorine aluminium silicate. It comes in yellow, yellow-brown, honey-yellow, flax, brown, green, blue, light blue, red and pink . Sometimes it has no color at all.
 
The topaz is most commonly found, in the yellow colors. In the 18th century, it was mined for approximately 60 years in Germany.
 
At one time the topaz was widespread, but then the more reasonably priced citrine took over.
 
Since then, the topaz has been a rather exotic figure in the jewelry trade. It is common for the genuine topaz to be called 'pure' in order to make it clear that it is the topaz, not the quartz topaz. It is still waiting for its well deserved comeback to this day.
